I finally took the plunge and signed up to give blood.
Â
It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. I’ve always known I have a rare blood type. Recently, after reading articles about how vital blood donations are for hospitals and emergency responders, I decided it was time to act.
Â
My blood type is RH O negative, often called the “universal blood type” because people of any blood type can receive it. This makes it critically important in emergencies, especially when a patient’s blood type is unknown. Air ambulances and emergency response vehicles rely on O negative blood to save lives, yet collecting enough of it is a constant challenge for the NHS.
Â
After your first visit, completing a short questionnaire and chatting with the brilliant nursing team, the process itself takes just 15 minutes. If you have a fast blood flow like mine, the actual donation can take less than seven!
Â
So, if you’ve ever thought about donating but haven’t quite got around to it… consider this your sign.

🩸 Why not sign up today? You could literally help save someone’s life.
