Doing our small part to spread some festive cheer

As Christmas draws closer, we all tend to be busy finalising work and rushing about preparing for festivities. We are often so wrapped up (pun intended) with seasonal activities we can forget that life is not so full and busy for others, particularly the senior members of our communities. This time of year can be lonely for those living on their own, in care homes or staying in hospital.

Our Purchasing Manager Kirsty helps the local Food Bank in Daventry by providing donations throughout the year, with winter and Christmas being the time of year they need the most support. Kirsty and her two sons have been busy preparing over 50 gift bags to be given out at local care homes and hospitals. Each bag has been hand-prepared, containing a selection of gifts like chocolates, sweets, mince pies, socks, gloves, puzzles and books. Kirsty asked if PurePac would help with more bags and when she told me they were to be given to those people who have no family, I really wanted to help. So, we (of course) donated, and Kirsty was able to make more bags and put more goodies in them.

PurePac makes donations throughout the year to good causes, but these tend to be sponsorships and on an adhoc basis. This got me thinking about how we could get more involved in charity work on a regular basis. So next year, we are going to look at choosing one or two charities and see how we could support them. What type of charity support does your company get involved in?
