Our reconditioned IBC containers go through a 7-Stage process, including specialist leak testing procedures. This process is not driven by automated factory production lines; we are hands on at every single stage of the process, which is why the quality of our output is extremely high and surpasses many (if not all) of our competitors. In fact, we have known customers who have tried other suppliers but who quickly returned to PurePac, and stayed.
Reconditioned products are various types of plastic and steel packaging which can go through a specialist cleaning/reconditioning process in order to be re-used – avoiding the higher costs involved in purchasing brand new packaging.
Our laundered IBCs service is bespoke to our customers. Many of our customers have packaging they need to use time and time again, but it needs to be reconditioned before they can reuse it. We collect the packaging and return it to our PurePac purpose built premises, where it is taken through the 7-Stage reconditioning process. We offer bespoke collection schedules together with labelling and tracking systems, enabling immediate identification of each specific container once returned to each customer.
IBC reconditioning is the process of collecting a used intermediate bulk container, emptying and cleaning it, inspecting and repairing the bottle, cage and pallet, and testing it so it can be safely re-used. A reconditioned IBC keeps its **original bottle**, which is cleaned, pressure-tested and inspected; the cage and pallet are repaired or replaced as needed. Where the inner bottle is replaced with a new one in a re-used cage, the container is described as **rebottled** (also called remanufactured).
A reconditioned IBC keeps and cleans its original bottle. A rebottled (remanufactured) IBC has a brand-new bottle fitted into a re-used, repaired cage.
An IBC carrying dangerous goods must be inspected every 2.5 years, including a leakproofness test, and undergo a fuller inspection against its UN design type every 5 years.
No. Reconditioned IBCs are not suitable for food or potable water because the original bottle has held a previous product. Use a new or rebottled IBC with a new food-grade bottle instead.
Five years from the date the inner bottle was manufactured. After that the bottle cannot carry dangerous goods, but the cage and pallet can be re-used with a new bottle.
