SX and MX IBCs

PurePac supply a number of drinks companies with IBCs for manufacturing and shipping purposes. In fact, only last year PurePac became an approved supplier for one of the biggest named Whisky manufacturers in Scotland.

As alcoholic drinks including whisky are classed as flammable products, ADR (transport) regulations state that any flammable materials should be filled into an anti-static container. Therefore SX-EX or MX-EX IBC models should be used for this purpose as they provide the necessary protection required.  Please see the excerpt below:

4.1.2     Additional general provisions for the use of IBCs

4.1.2.1  When IBCs are used for the carriage of liquids with a flash-point of 60°C (closed cup) or lower, or of powders liable to dust explosion, measures shall be taken to prevent a dangerous electrostatic discharge.

Both the SX and MX models comply with ADR and UN regulations for transporting flammables with the MX model providing several layers of protection:

  • SX-EX – this IBC has a metal plating around the actual bottle
  • MX-EX – this IBC has a 3-layer anti-static layer on the outside of the bottle
