A week of breaking records…..

Our biggest IBC wall yet…

It’s not just record-breaking temperatures across the UK this week, with over 1,000 IBCs in stock, we’re building the biggest IBC wall ever. At this rate, we might even have a chance of catching up with manufacturers Schutz UK.

To be precise, today we have 1,188 brand new IBCs in stock covering standard 1,000L, foodgrade, UV protecting black, full plastic pallets, 640L and conductives. We have Schutz, Mauser and Greif brands available.

These new IBCs are in addition to our reconditioned stocks. Although that said, yet again we are seeing a real shortage of reconditioned IBCs available in the marketplace. So much so, that some of our customers who only ever purchase recons, have now purchased new IBCS to keep their manufacturing operations moving.

Over the years we’ve seen fluctuations in the available supply of used IBCs for reconditioning, particularly during the pandemic. However, with manufacturing seemingly back to capacity, there must be another reason behind the shortages. Maybe with the introduction of the Plastic Packaging Tax (PPT) manufacturers are looking at ways to reduce their new IBC purchasing levels by cleaning/reusing their IBCs in-house. Or maybe the IBC manufacturers are themselves stepping up their recycling activities, meaning there are fewer used IBCs in circulation.

Do my industry friends have any thoughts on this?
