Latest Legislation Relating to Foodgrade Certified IBCs

Up until 2015, it was possible to issue migration declaration to confirm that an IBC inner bottle is produced from food grade material… this information was suitable enough for some fillers.

This was because the previous directive 2002/72/EC (which has now been replaced with EC 10/2011) was mainly focused on just the IBC inner bottle.

But at the start of 2016 we saw the transitional period for the implementation of EC 10/2011 end, now the requirement for sensitive filling such as in the food industry is more focused on the packaging in its entirety… which is only fully met by the FoodCert FSSC IBC.

If you are a manufacturer working in the drinks or food industries, by law you should use Foodgrade Certified IBCs.  Brand new standard IBCS are not sufficient enough to meet the current legislation.
