Something happened recently that made me incredibly proud of our team.

Last week, Kirsty was leaving the office on the school run when she noticed an elderly lady walking alone along our industrial estate.

It's an extremely busy road, with articulated lorries, our own delivery fleet and constant traffic from neighbouring businesses. Something didn't feel right.

Although she was in a rush, Kirsty came back into the office to tell Susie before she left. Susie immediately went outside to check on the lady. She noticed she seemed unsteady on her feet and, with so much heavy traffic passing by, was concerned for her safety. She came to find me, and I went out to speak with the lady.

As we talked and walked together, I recognised, through personal experience, that she may have been living with Alzheimer's or dementia. I gently encouraged her back to our office so we could work out where she lived.

Eventually, I drove her home. Although she couldn't tell us the way, as soon as we reached her neighbourhood, she recognised where she was. Her husband answered the door and explained it was the first time she had ever wandered away from home. He was incredibly grateful to have her back safely.

A few days later, he sent us a thank you email that meant a great deal to all of us.

At PurePac, teamwork is part of everything we do. We work together every day to support our customers, solve problems and deliver the best service we can.

But this was a reminder that teamwork doesn't stop at the office door. It's about noticing when something isn't right, trusting your instincts and taking the time to help someone who needs it.

I'm incredibly proud of Kirsty for speaking up, Susie for acting so quickly, and everyone who helped make sure one lady returned home safely.
