*A candid post*

Sometimes you’ve got to slog it out and that’s OK

Lately, I’ve noticed lots of posts telling us to stop glamorising working long hours and how we should always prioritise family time. I’m an advocate of work-life balance, most people are. However, the last eighteen months have been a struggle and seeing so many moralistic posts is frustrating.

These recent times have been the most challenging in my career. I work more than standard hours because I have to. And often I want to, my motivation is to ensure the survival of our business. Yes, we have invested in new systems and software to ‘work smarter’. However, I believe that working smarter isn’t enough, especially when we are growing and simultaneously navigating the business through challenging times.

I’d love more leisure time but if I don’t work hard (evenings, weekends) the business could fail. So, for me currently, the answer is to work as smart as possible alongside working hard. It’s said that ‘you only reap what you sow’, I hope PurePac’s harvest will prove to be the ‘cream of the crop’ soon.

I would love to know how you feel about moralistic advice and quotes on working smarter and work-life balance. What do you think?
